“This Is Not a Game About Ponies”
// About the game
You're stuck playing an arcade machine that was made by the devil. The game within the game is a simple endless runner about a pony, but things start breaking and glitching and you realize something is very wrong. The tone starts silly and gets increasingly unsettling.
I really cannot say more without spoiling it. Just trust me on this one.
// Gameplay
Theres a few layers to the gameplay. The game keeps shifting what it asks you to do in surprising ways. Also, Some of the puzzles can be quite tricky.
I cant say much or else it’ll ruin the experience but its definitely worth it, especially since its a pretty short game.
// My take
I went in completely blind and that was the best decision. The game does something unexpected and it kept surprising me. Its one of those games that plays with what a "game" even is.
I love getting surprised in games, and Pony Islands does not disappoint.
