Dead Cells
“A Roguelike That Respects Your Skill More Than Your Luck”
About the game
What's the game?
You fight your way through a series of locations. Theres not much story upfront, its more about the gameplay loop.
Gameplay
What you'll actually do
Its a 2D roguelike action platformer. You run through procedurally generated levels, pick up weapons and abilities, fight enemies, and try to reach the final boss without dying. When you die, you start over but keep some permanent upgrades.
The weapon variety is insane. Swords, whips, bows, traps, grenades, and each one plays completely differently. You also choose different paths through the game each run, so it never feels exactly the same.
The more you play and get the hang of it, you start to notice that the game gets a lot faster because of your movement, which is insaaaaaanely fun.
Theres a bunch of DLCs for extra content like weapons, levels, and bosses. I personally loved the Castlevania DLC.
My take
Why I keep thinking about it
What got me hooked was how good the combat feels. Every weapon has weight to it. Its one of those games where the better you get, the more fun it becomes.
I also appreciated that the game rewards skill over RNG. Sure, you can get unlucky with weapon drops, but you can make it work.
